The Pioneer Awards
The Pioneer Awards is a signature event and fundraiser for the Next Move Program. The purpose is to celebrate organizations in the Greater Richmond Area that have inclusive training and hiring practices.
All funds raised go the our scholarship fund.
NOMINATION FORM: The 2018 Pioneer Awards
Know of an organization in the Greater Richmond Community that excels at promoting inclusion in the workplace for individuals with Developmental Disabilities? We want to recognize them!
Nominate that organization now through October 24th. Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of community leaders. Winners will be recognized at The Pioneer Awards on December 6, 2018 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Dogwood Dance Theatre. The event will be emceed by Nikki-Dee Ray of CBS 6 with a performance The Forest Hill Trio.
The 2017 Pioneer Awards
The 2017 Pioneer Awards, presented by AbleNow and held December 5, 2017, was emceed by Nikki-Dee Ray of CBS 6 and several Next Move graduates. The Forest Hill Trio provided live music and Level Up Rentals provided fun party games!
SunTrust, Keiter and CBS 6 all helped to make this event possible. Volunteers were provided by our friends at Capital One.
Congratulations to our winners, Quirk Hotel, GrowRVA, The YMCA of Greater Richmond, Special Olympics Virginia, Joe's Inn Bon Air, Capital One & Restaurant Associates, and Taziki's Cafe. Thank you for your efforts to make RVA a more inclusive place to live and work.
Our panel of area business leaders and self advocates reviewed and selected our finalists. That panel included Justin Feaster of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Shelley Lantz of True Heath Diagnostics, Scott Wayne of The Envoy Portfolio, Matthew Shapiro of 6 Wheels Consulting, Charlotte Dean of The YMCA of Greater Richmond, Todd Waldo of The Robinson Theater, and Milgo Yonis of TMI Consulting.
